St. Francis Xavier Forane Church, Velur

St. Francis Xavier Forane Church is a Catholic church at the heart of Velur, built with traditional Syro-Malabar architectural features and protected as a monument. It functions within the Archdiocese of Thrissur and contains interior elements reflecting its religious mission over time.

Founded in 1724 by German missionary Fr. Johann Ernst Hanxleden, known as Arnos Padiri, the church was dedicated to St. Francis Xavier. It has remained on the same site and served the community continuously since its establishment.
