Kuttankulangara Sri Krishna Temple

Kuttankulangara Sri Krishna Temple is a Hindu temple in Punkunnam, Thrissur district in Kerala. Located around 500 meters from Punkunnam Railway station, it serves as a place of worship for the local community.

The temple dates back more than 300 years and has developed into an important spiritual center in the Kuttankulangara ward. Over the centuries, it has become a landmark in the religious life of Thrissur.

The temple is dedicated to Krishna and follows Kerala's religious traditions with multiple deities including Ganesha, Devi, and the Serpent God. Visitors observe how local worshippers perform their daily prayers and rituals, keeping the region's spiritual practices alive.

The temple is open to visitors from 5 AM to 10 PM, with extended hours between 5 PM and 8 PM for evening prayers. The location is easily accessible and situated in an active neighborhood with clear directions available on site.

The temple hosts an uncommon annual ceremony called Pannivetta where participants enact a symbolic hunt. The ritual uses a model pig and an ancient Banyan tree, preserving a tradition that is rarely seen elsewhere.
