Established in 1885, the Thrissur Zoo stands as one of the oldest animal parks in India, starting its journey during the British colonial period.
The zoo complex incorporates both a natural history museum and an art museum, displaying regional artifacts and mounted animal skeletons for educational purposes.
Visitors can access the zoo daily from 10:00 AM to 5:15 PM except Mondays, with convenient transportation options from the city center and railway station.
Plans are underway to expand the facility from 13.5 acres to 306 acres, transforming it into the Thrissur Zoological Park Wildlife Conservation and Research Centre.
