The Air Force School, building in India
The Air Force School is a co-educational institution in Subroto Park, New Delhi, teaching students from preschool through Class 12 with both day and boarding options available. The 15-acre campus sits on the Aravali ridge and features modern facilities including science laboratories, smart classrooms, a library, sports stadium, courts for cricket and basketball, a swimming pool, and grounds lined with eucalyptus and ashoka trees.
The school was established in 1955 to serve children of Indian Air Force personnel and is managed by the Indian Air Force Educational and Cultural Society. Over time it expanded to welcome other students while maintaining its focus on discipline and values rooted in its military heritage.
The school was initially founded to serve children of Air Force personnel but has grown into a diverse community. Daily routines include wearing uniforms and following structured schedules, with celebrations of Independence Day and Republic Day marking the academic calendar and helping students develop a sense of responsibility.
The school opens at approximately 7:50 a.m., with classes ending at 1:40 p.m. for junior students and slightly later for older classes. Plan visits during morning hours for parent-teacher events, as the gates open early and close after afternoon dismissal.
The school operates a house system dividing students into five houses - Subroto, Arjan, Pratap, Latif, and Katre - to foster healthy competition and team spirit. This structure creates smaller communities within the school where students work together on activities and events throughout the year.
