Dolphin's Nose is a rocky headland that rises over 350 meters above sea level and extends approximately 170 meters into the Bay of Bengal. A lighthouse stands at the summit and dominates the landscape, visible from many parts of the city on clear days.
The mountain served as a strategic location and housed a British military camp in the 1800s. A significant military encounter took place here in 1804 that shaped the region's history.
The area holds three separate religious buildings, including a temple for Lord Venkateshwara, a mosque, and a church on different hills. These spaces show how various communities find meaning and gather at this hilltop location.
The location is accessible on foot, though you need to climb stairs to reach the lighthouse area. The best time to visit is before sunset, when the light over the sea is especially pleasant.
