Kang Yung Study Hall, Historic study hall in North District, Hong Kong
Located in the Hakka village of Sheung Wo Hang, Kang Yung Study Hall features grey brick walls and a rectangular layout with two halls and cocklofts.
The Li clan built this educational facility in early Qing dynasty, with major expansions during the Qianlong reign between 1736 and 1795.
This traditional Chinese study hall served as an essential educational center for the local community, representing the scholarly traditions of the Hakka people.
The study hall welcomes visitors from Monday through Sunday, except Tuesdays, with operating hours from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
The internal structure incorporates unfired mud-bricks and rammed earth techniques, demonstrating traditional Chinese construction methods from the Qing period.
