Plover Cove Country Park is a large protected area in Tai Po with mountains and coastal landscapes spread across over 4,000 hectares. Hiking trails crisscross the park, leading through forests and along the shoreline, showcasing diverse ecosystems.
The park was established in 1978 as a turning point for nature conservation in Hong Kong. A year later, the northern area was extended to better protect the Double Haven islets.
The Wu Kau Tang village within the park displays traditional Hakka architecture with tiled roofs and bamboo groves that have stood for centuries. Residents continue to use these spaces for daily life, keeping their building and living traditions alive.
The park is best reached by green minibus from Tai Po Market MTR station to the Wu Kau Tang entrance. The terrain is hilly, so wear proper footwear and bring plenty of water.
Bride's Pool waterfall has a large plunge pool where, according to local stories, a bride drowned during her wedding journey. This tale has shaped the place's character over time.
