Wu Kai Sha Youth Village, Beach camp in Ma On Shan, Hong Kong.
Wu Kai Sha Youth Village is a summer camp facility spread across a large waterfront site along Tolo Harbour near Ma On Shan. The grounds include residential buildings, swimming pools, basketball courts, rope courses, and dining facilities designed to accommodate hundreds of guests at once.
The site was established in 1955 as a Children's Village to provide shelter for orphaned children in the region. In 1971, the Chinese YMCA took over and redirected the location toward youth camping and recreational programs.
The village functions as a gathering place where young people come together for skill-building and group activities. The chapel and learning spaces reflect how visitors experience community life during their stay.
The location is somewhat remote, so arriving by car or public transport and allowing extra travel time is advisable. Visitors should know that meals and activities happen on-site, with limited nearby dining options outside the facility.
Before roads reached the site in the 1980s, visitors could only arrive by speedboat ferry from Wu Kai Sha Public Pier to Ma Liu Shui. This water route was once the sole way to access this isolated location.
