The Hu Clan Ancestral Hall in Longchuan covers 1,564 square metres and combines Huizhou brick, wood and stone carving with painted decoration. Its more than 600 wooden carved components are the most admired part, and the hall is known as a "museum of woodcarving art".

The building was recognized as a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level due to its importance in preserving the Hu family history. This designation reflects that it stands as a record of generations living in southern China.
