Burg Coraidelstein

Burg Coraidelstein is a medieval fortress ruin located on a hilltop above Klotten, consisting of stone walls, foundations, and rampart remains scattered across the site. The surviving structures reveal the original layout and defensive design, with sections of walls still standing to give visitors a sense of the fortification's form.

The fortress was established around 960 and functioned as a strategic stronghold protecting important trade routes through the Rhineland-Palatinate. Over the following centuries, it played a role in the region's commercial and political control until it eventually fell into decline.

The ruins draw visitors interested in how medieval communities built defensive structures, with the visible stonework showing practical building methods from that era. Local hikers pass through to understand the layout and purpose of such fortifications in the region's past.
