Belantis, Amusement park in Leipzig, Germany
Belantis is an amusement park south of Leipzig that covers 27 hectares and offers more than 60 attractions for all age groups. The complex includes four roller coasters, numerous water rides, and eight themed areas ranging from ancient times to the modern era.
The park opened in 2003 on a former mining site and quickly grew into a major destination with around 600,000 visitors each year. In 2018, the Spanish Parques Reunidos group took over operations and has since expanded the range of rides.
The name draws from old Celtic legends and appears throughout the eight themed worlds that take visitors across epochs and continents. Each area shows its own architecture and plantings, so walking through means shifting between Egyptian temples and French gardens.
The park sits right at the Neue Harth exit on the A38 motorway and is also reachable by S-Bahn from downtown. Most rides offer barrier-free access and there are rental wheelchairs plus wide paths throughout the grounds.
The Huracan roller coaster reaches a 95-degree incline in free fall and delivers five complete inversions along its track. The Pharaoh tower serves as a landmark in the park and houses a dark coaster inside with unexpected turns.
