Cop Car Chase, Steel roller coaster in Movie Park Germany, Bottrop, Germany
Cop Car Chase is a steel roller coaster at Movie Park Germany in Bottrop, running through several sections with tight curves and loops. The track passes over other areas of the park and is one of the most visible rides in the venue.
The ride opened in 1996 under the name Lethal Weapon Pursuit and kept that name until Star Parks acquired the park in 2005. After the acquisition, it was renamed Cop Car Chase to fit the park's new direction.
The ride vehicles are styled as police cars, and the queue area is decorated with street scenery that sets up the chase story before the ride even begins. Visitors can take in the theme simply by walking through the line.
There is a minimum height requirement for the ride, so visitors traveling with children should check this before joining the queue. Personal items should be secured or stored before boarding, as the ride involves sharp movements.
The ride uses vertical magnetic brakes rather than the horizontal systems common at the time of its construction, which was an unusual technical choice for the mid-1990s. This setup allows for more precise speed control along the track.
