Movie Park Germany, Entertainment park in Bottrop, Germany
Movie Park Germany is a theme park in Bottrop, western Germany, organized into seven zones that blend film sets with rides. Roller coasters rise above pathways lined with facades, while water attractions and performance stages occupy spaces between the zones.
A fairytale park opened here in 1967, later becoming Bavaria Filmpark with studio sets and props. The site was redesigned in 2005 to focus on movie-themed entertainment and rides.
The park brings Hollywood storytelling into a German setting, creating a space where international film culture becomes part of everyday leisure. Visitors walk through zones inspired by American cinema, meeting characters and exploring sets that feel familiar from screens at home.
The park sits about 50 kilometers (31 miles) north of Düsseldorf and offers rides suitable for families with children as well as older visitors looking for faster coasters. Arriving early helps avoid longer waits, especially on weekends and during school holidays.
Every October since 1999, the grounds turn into a nighttime event with scare mazes and costumed performers moving among guests. The transformation changes familiar pathways into shadowy routes where actors create sudden encounters.
