Van Helsing's Factory, Steel roller coaster at Movie Park Germany, Bottrop.
Van Helsing's Factory is an indoor steel roller coaster at Movie Park Germany in Bottrop. The track runs entirely inside a building designed to look like an old industrial hall, and the cars pass through several themed rooms along the way.
The ride opened in June 2011 at Movie Park Germany, taking over the space previously occupied by the Gremlins Invasion attraction. The entire indoor space was rethemed and rebuilt for the new installation.
The ride is built around the figure of Professor Van Helsing, the vampire hunter from classic horror fiction, set inside a factory that serves as his base of operations. Throughout the queue and the ride itself, visitors can spot props, tools, and signs that tell the story without a single word of narration.
Because the ride is entirely indoors, it is a good option on rainy or very hot days when outdoor queues feel uncomfortable. Arriving early in the day tends to mean shorter waits, as lines tend to build up as the morning goes on.
The outside of the building is dressed up to look like a worn 1950s factory, with details that are easy to miss at first glance. Inside, each room reveals a different chapter of the story, and visitors who take their time in the queue often notice more details than during the ride itself.
