Traumlandpark, Amusement park in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, Germany
Traumlandpark was an amusement park in Bottrop-Kirchhellen featuring various rides and attractions across about 30 hectares of land. The grounds housed Europe's largest open-air dinosaur exhibition with around 30 life-sized models and multiple roller coasters including Super-Spirale, Alpenblitz, and Black Hole.
The park opened in 1977 on the site of a former fairy tale themed area and operated for more than a decade. Financial difficulties forced its closure in 1991 and led to the location being repurposed as a different entertainment venue.
The park presented daily performances with dance shows and artist impersonations, while a museum tram line featuring historical vehicles transported visitors around the grounds.
The grounds were organized with different zones for rides and exhibitions, allowing visitors to explore according to their interests. Families with younger children could focus on specific areas, while others could enjoy the roller coasters and dinosaur exhibition.
The grounds contained a 12-meter-high walkable heart structure that produced heartbeat sounds as visitors passed through its chambers. This unusual installation was a feature that many guests found to be a memorable part of their visit.
