DB Museum, Koblenz, Railway museum in Lützel district, Koblenz, Germany
The DB Museum Koblenz is a railway museum in the Lützel area housed in a former repair facility built in the early 1900s. The collection features around 40 historic locomotives and approximately 50 passenger and freight cars spanning different railway eras.
The museum opened in 2001 as the first branch location of the German Railway Museum Nuremberg at this site. The building previously served as a freight wagon repair workshop until 1995.
The museum demonstrates how railways shaped German daily life and continue to influence transportation choices today. Visitors can see how trains changed commerce, travel, and the way people connect.
The location is staffed by volunteers from the Stiftung Bahn-Sozialwerk organization, and visiting hours vary seasonally. A small shop inside sells railway-themed books and model trains.
The museum houses two Trans Europ Express railcars, including the VT 11.5 and a gas turbine model, showcasing engineering innovation of their era. These rare vehicles represent a period when high-speed trains connected major European cities.
