Meistersaal, Concert hall and recording studio in Kreuzberg, Germany
Meistersaal is a concert hall and recording studio in Berlin's Kreuzberg district that hosts musical performances and various events. The building contains a chamber music hall with a seven-meter-high wooden coffered ceiling modeled after the Berlin Philharmonic, along with additional spaces for different uses.
The building was constructed in 1910 and served multiple purposes before becoming part of Hansa Tonstudios in 1976. From that point onward, it developed into a legendary recording studio where world-famous artists created their work.
The space served as Studio 2 of Hansa Tonstudios and drew musicians from around the world who came here to record their work. This studio held an important place in Berlin's music history and continues to shape how people understand the venue as a site of artistic creation.
The venue is accessible on foot or by public transportation, and a visit is best planned by checking the events calendar to see which performances are offered. Keep in mind that entry and the visitor experience may differ depending on the type of event.
The space has a volume of about 3000 cubic meters and produces a reverberation time of about one and a half seconds due to its construction, making it acoustically ideal. These carefully engineered acoustic properties explain why so many renowned musicians have made their best recordings here.
