Fernmeldeturm Höxter, Telecommunications tower on Schrodhalbe Mountain in Holzminden, Germany
The Fernmeldeturm Hoxter is a 90-meter tall transmission tower on Schrodhalbe Mountain that serves as a broadcasting hub for radio and television signals across the region. The facility provides telecommunications services and data transmission capacity to a large surrounding area.
The facility was built in 1976 by Deutsche Bundespost and marked the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure in Lower Saxony during the technological advancement period. Its construction was part of a broader effort to improve signal coverage in this mountainous region.
The tower connects people through radio broadcasts from several networks including WDR, NDR, and HR. This allows residents on both sides of the regional border to receive the same news and entertainment programming.
The tower is located roughly one kilometer south of Neuhaus and west of Federal Road 497 in a hilly area. Its elevated position and height enable the facility to transmit signals reliably across a large region.
Although located in Lower Saxony, the tower primarily transmits programs intended for North Rhine-Westphalia due to the topographical conditions of the Weser Valley. This geographical peculiarity makes the location strategically valuable for signal distribution.
