Unteres Schloss is a Neoclassical building that rises along the White Elster riverbank in Greiz. Inside, it contains a museum, textile workshop, tourist information services, and cultural facilities.
After a major city fire in 1802, Prince Heinrich XIII commissioned a rebuild of the castle in the new Neoclassical style. The work finished in 1809 and created an important center for the city.
