Nikolaikirche, Medieval church in Siegen, Germany
The Nikolaikirche combines a hexagonal central building with a three-nave layout, featuring a baroque tower dome and large windows that illuminate the interior.
Built before 1250 as a late Romanesque hall church, the building served as a market church surrounded by merchant shops during the Middle Ages.
The church houses a golden baptismal bowl made of Peruvian silver from the 16th century, donated by Prince Johann Moritz of Nassau-Siegen.
The church tower contains four large bells, with three of them ringing over the city for more than 500 years.
A large golden crown sits atop the church tower, placed there in 1658 by Prince Johann Moritz, while the original crown hangs in the tower hall.
