Henner und Frieder, Bronze statue group in Siegen, Germany
Henner und Frieder are two bronze figures depicting a miner and a smelter standing opposite each other at the Oberstadtbrücke. The sculptures display careful craftsmanship and form part of Siegen's central urban landscape.
The statues were created in 1902 by sculptor Friedrich Reusch and were first shown at an industrial trade exhibition in Düsseldorf. They were later given to Siegen, where they have remained part of the city ever since.
The figures represent real workers who labored in this region. They show how important work was to the people living here and how communities depended on these trades.
The sculptures are located near the Oberstadtbrücke and are easily reached by public transportation. The central location makes them simple to visit and accessible on foot from nearby areas.
During World War II, the bronze figures fell into the Sieg River when the bridge was destroyed. They were recovered a few weeks later and returned to their location.
