Johanniskirche, Gothic Revival church in Gera, Germany
The Johanniskirche stands 70 meters tall with a brick exterior, large stained glass windows, and a central tower that marks the city skyline.
Built in 1885 by architects Constantin Lipsius and August Hartel, this church replaced an 11th-century structure that burned down in 1780.
The church holds regular performances by the Heinrich-Schütz-Choir and hosts organ concerts featuring the Kreutzbach instrument from Borna.
Located at the intersection of Clara-Zetkin-Straße and Zabelstraße, the church offers wheelchair accessibility and regular Sunday services.
Steel bells installed in 1922 continue to ring from the tower, while the interior features a Gothic crucifix from Gumperda near Jena.
