Petersdorf auf Fehmarn, District in Fehmarn, Germany.
Petersdorf auf Fehmarn is a small district in the western part of Fehmarn island, sitting just north of the Kopendorfer Au wetland. The village has a rural layout built around a central church and surrounded by open farmland.
The settlement first appeared in records in 1230 under the name Pethærsthorp in the Waldemar Land Registry. A school was established in 1596, marking a step in the village's social development.
St. Johannis Church stands at the center of the village and draws visitors in with its ornate altar, visible as soon as you step inside. The building is still used for services and community gatherings today.
The village is easy to reach by road and comfortable to explore on foot or by bicycle. The flat terrain around the island makes cycling a natural way to move between nearby spots.
The Südermühle was built in 1893 in the Dutch gallery windmill style, replacing earlier mills that had been lost to fire. It is one of the few remaining examples of this type of windmill on the island.
