Toplerhaus, Renaissance town house in Nuremberg, Germany
The Toplerhaus stood as a tower-like sandstone block with multiple Gothic bay windows and columned gables along its facade at Untere Söldnersgasse.
Built in 1590 by Jakob Wolff the Elder, the Toplerhaus served as a residence for the patrician Topler family until its destruction during a 1945 air raid.
The building became part of the German National Museum in 1853, transforming from a merchant residence into an institutional space for cultural preservation.
The current structure at latitude 49.4581 and longitude 11.079 represents a post-war reconstruction that replaced the original Renaissance building.
The sandstone structure incorporated repeated Gothic Chorleins, specialized bay windows particular to Nuremberg's architectural tradition.
