Vogelpark Niendorf

Vogelpark Niendorf is a bird park in the Lübeck Bay region covering a large area with wetlands, ponds, and reed areas. The park is home to around 1,000 birds representing more than 200 different species living in natural-like settings.

The park was established at a location selected for its proximity to Niendorf Harbor and Hemmelsdorf Lake. This setting connects the site to a major nature protection area in the region.

The park maintains one of the world's largest owl collections, featuring species from different regions that represent important conservation efforts. Visitors can see birds here that are rarely observed in other settings.

The park is open daily with hours varying by season - longer in summer and shorter in winter months. Visitors should prepare for outdoor conditions and wear appropriate footwear since much of the experience involves walking through natural terrain.

The park features two large enclosed aviaries where spoonbills, ibises, and herons display their natural flight behaviors. These spaces offer visitors an unusual close view of how these birds move and interact in flight.
