The subterranean passageway extends twenty meters deep with multiple chambers reaching several meters in height beneath the surface.
Scientists discovered the original entrance to this 16,000-year-old Ice Age cave in 2023 through measurements conducted by the University of Heidelberg.
The cave belongs to a network of archaeological sites in the region, including Gnirs Cave and Petersfels, documenting late Ice Age settlements.
The entrance remains sealed with earth until specialists commence their investigation of the interior chambers in the following year.
Researchers identified settlement remnants from the late Ice Age and anticipate finding stone tools, jewelry, and art pieces within the cave.
