Landesvertretung Bayern Berlin, State representation in Berlin-Mitte, Germany
The Landesvertretung Bayern Berlin is Bavaria's official representation building in the nation's capital, located at Behrenstrasse 21/22. It serves as the direct link between the state and federal government institutions.
The building was constructed in 1896 as the headquarters of the Schaafhausen Bank Association and was converted in 1998 to serve as Bavaria's state representation. This transformation marked the beginning of establishing state offices in Berlin's government district after reunification.
The building retains its original banking hall architecture in the foyer, while the former vault now functions as a traditional Bavarian beer cellar. You can experience Bavarian customs and social gatherings in this authentic setting.
The building is situated at the edge of Berlin's government district and is easily accessible by public transport or on foot from the Brandenburg Gate. Be aware that security checks are required and not all areas are open to the public.
This was the first state representation building to be newly established in Berlin's government district after reunification. Its opening marked the beginning of many states returning their offices to the capital.
