Talvogtei

Talvogtei is a building with three wings arranged around an enclosed courtyard in Kirchzarten. The structure follows a square layout and is surrounded by a protective wall.

The building was first documented in 765 as a court belonging to the Abbey of St. Gall. By 1497, it had become an administrative hub for Freiburg lands.

The building serves as the administrative center and gathering place for Kirchzarten residents. It anchors the town's identity and hosts regular community meetings and local events.

The municipal offices at Talvogtei are accessible during regular business hours. The building is centrally located in Kirchzarten and easily walkable from other parts of town.

The northern wing dates from 1400 and houses a large hall created by combining three rooms. The ceiling structure still shows traces of this original division.
