Day Forest National Park

Located in the wettest region of Djibouti, Day Forest National Park contains ancient juniper forests, ficus trees, wild olives, and boxwoods across 15 square kilometers.

The national park, established in 1939, has experienced an 88 percent reduction in forest coverage over two centuries, with significant losses in recent decades.

The park serves as a vital ecological reserve in Djibouti, representing one of the few remaining forested areas in a country with minimal tree coverage.

Visitors can observe endemic bird species such as the Djibouti spurfowl, green-winged pytilia, and Djibouti sunbird while exploring the mountain paths.

The park contains a 900-hectare stand of East African junipers that grow exclusively at elevations above 950 meters in the Goda Mountains.
