De Syngende Træer, Interactive musical installation in Kildeparken, Denmark
De Syngende Træer is a musical installation in Kildeparken where trees are equipped with posts that play songs when visitors press buttons. The collection includes roughly 60 trees spread throughout the park, each offering different musical selections for visitors to discover.
The first tree was planted in 1987 by Sir Cliff Richard, marking the start of this musical collection. Since then, international artists have continued to contribute to and expand the project.
The trees here were planted by musicians from around the world, creating a visible link between musical artistry and the natural landscape. Visitors can observe how this place brings together creative contribution and the living environment in a way that feels personal rather than institutional.
The park is freely accessible and can be visited any time of year, though the trees play holiday songs during December. Plan to spend time walking between the different trees at your own pace to discover the various musical selections throughout the space.
Eight rust-colored entrance pillars designed by architects Thorvald Odgaard and Bruno Kjær mark the gateway to this collection. These distinctive columns immediately draw attention and set the installation apart from the surrounding parkland.
