The house of Sitt Wasila is an Ottoman residential building situated near the Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo. It contains two main rooms connected to a bathroom featuring white marble walls and traditional Ottoman decorative patterns.
The building was constructed in 1664 by brothers Abdul Haq and Lotfi, sons of Muhammad Bey Al-Kanani. It later took its name from its final resident, Khatun bint Abdullah.
The house displays typical features of Islamic residential design with carefully planned room arrangements that protect privacy. Entrances and windows are positioned to keep interior spaces hidden from outside view.
The building is open to visitors and maintained by the General Fund for Cultural Development. It is best to check opening hours in advance before planning your visit.
A restoration project in 2005 uncovered an original historical bathroom with preserved decorative elements from the Ottoman period. This discovery revealed details about the original fixtures and craftsmanship of that era.
