ABC Serrano, Historical building and commercial center in Salamanca district, Madrid, Spain.
ABC Serrano is a building with two connected structures in the Salamanca district that combines Neo-Mudéjar and Neo-Plateresque styles. The facades are decorated with elaborate ceramic work that displays a blend of Moorish and Andalusian design elements.
The building was constructed in 1899 as headquarters for the Blanco y Negro magazine and later housed ABC newspaper operations. In 1989 it was transformed into a shopping center while maintaining its architectural character.
The facades blend Moorish and Andalusian design traditions, connecting Madrid with southern Spanish architectural heritage. Visitors can see this blend in the decorated ceramic details and curved forms that echo historical craftsmanship techniques.
The building has entrances from both Calle Serrano and Paseo de la Castellana, making it easily accessible from different directions. Weekday visits tend to be less crowded than weekend visits.
The top floor features an open space with views over Paseo de la Castellana that is regularly used for exhibitions and product presentations. This area is often less known than the commercial floors below but offers an unexpected perspective of the city.
