Gloriette of Bécquer, Marble monument in Parque de María Luisa, Seville, Spain.
The Gloriette features a central marble bust of poet Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer set within a circle of three female stone figures representing different emotional states. The monument occupies a designated space in Parque de María Luisa with pathways leading to and around it.
The monument was inaugurated in 1911 as a result of efforts by the Álvarez Quintero brothers who funded its creation. Their theatrical works provided the financial means to realize this tribute to the poet.
The three female figures carved in marble around the monument show different moments from Bécquer's poems about love and feelings. They create a quiet space where visitors can see the poet's words expressed through sculpture and stone.
The monument is easily reached by public transport, as multiple bus lines serve the park and stop nearby. Visitors can approach the site from various directions within the park, making access straightforward regardless of entry point.
A swamp cypress tree planted around 1850 forms an integral part of the monument and was specifically chosen by sculptor Lorenzo Coullaut Valera for this location. The tree predates the monument itself, creating an organic connection between the stone figures and the living plant.
