Le Désert d'Entremont, Alpine ski resort in Entremont-le-Vieux, France
Le Désert d'Entremont is a ski resort in the Chartreuse massif with slopes ranging from 1100 to 1450 meters in elevation. The terrain includes three ski lifts serving seven downhill runs, plus extensive cross-country trails and snowshoeing routes on the sunny side of Col du Mollard.
Winter sports development in the Entremont valley started in 1968 with the opening of a cross-country skiing center at this location. That early initiative established the foundation for the area's current mix of Alpine and Nordic skiing options.
The ski school teaches Alpine and Nordic techniques using traditional French mountain methods. The instruction emphasizes both disciplines, reflecting how the area has long connected to winter sports culture.
The area is accessible by road from Saint-Jean-de-Couz through Corbel or directly from Entremont-le-Vieux, with equipment rental available on site. Both beginner and experienced skiers can find instruction and suitable runs for their level.
The sunny exposure on the Col du Mollard side creates particularly good light and snow conditions throughout the season. This natural advantage makes the terrain especially suitable for a full day of varied winter activities without the crowds of larger resorts.
