La Cochette, Mountain summit in Chartreuse Region, France

La Cochette is a 1618 m summit in the Chartreuse Mountains, on the boundary of Corbel, Saint-Jean-de-Couz and Entremont-le-Vieux in Savoie. Its rocky crest is made of Fontanil limestone, with a pointed peak, jagged cliffs and a vertical buttress on the centre-right. Forest covers the lower slopes and a shallow saddle on the left.

The summit gained recognition for alpine activities after the establishment of the Chartreuse Regional Natural Park in the region. The limestone that forms the peak originated during ancient marine periods, giving it the geology visible today.

La Cochette is known among climbers for its long routes and its slab climbing, and it is also used for speed climbing: the fastest known ascent of the four-pitch, roughly 100 m route P'tit Piton was made on 28 September 2019 by Denis Revelière and Bertrand Kuzbinski in 19 min 48 s 7. The summit lies at the meeting point of Corbel, Saint-Jean-de-Couz and Entremont-le-Vieux.

Access to the summit begins from the village of Entremont le Vieux via the Col du Grapillon trail and demands solid hiking equipment and reasonable fitness levels. The terrain is rocky and becomes slippery when wet, so footwear with good grip is essential for safe travel.
