Parc zoologique de Fréjus

Parc zoologique de Fréjus, Wildlife park in Fréjus, France

Parc Zoologique de Fréjus spreads across about 20 acres of Mediterranean landscape and is home to around 110 animal species from all continents, including lions, giraffes, and elephants. The grounds feature pathways that allow visitors to move through different enclosures and habitats.

The zoo opened in 1971 following a partnership between the mayor André Léotard and private investor Hubert Masquefa. This collaboration established it as the region's leading wildlife center.

Keepers conduct feeding demonstrations where they explain animal behavior and needs, allowing visitors to watch and learn directly from the specialists. These sessions help people understand how different species live in their natural habitats.

The park opens daily with closing times that vary by season, so check the current schedule before your visit. Wear comfortable shoes since you will walk quite a bit to see all the enclosures.

Following the closure of Zoo de Saint-Jean Cap Ferrat, this is the only zoological park in a wide radius of the region. This makes it an important place for conservation projects and wildlife research.
