Sentier de L'Imbut

Sentier de L'Imbut is a hiking path that winds through the limestone walls of Verdon Gorges with views of rock formations and the turquoise river below. The terrain varies in elevation and reveals different rock structures and river perspectives throughout the walk.

Ancient Roman roads are built into the path, showing long-standing human presence in this region of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. These traces reveal that people have traveled through this area since ancient times.

At the Imbut funnel, the Verdon River vanishes beneath massive rock formations surrounded by towering cliffs. This geological feature fascinates visitors who rarely see a river disappear into the earth elsewhere.
