Station du Barioz, Nordic ski area and winter resort in Crêts-en-Belledonne, France
Station du Barioz is a ski area in the French Alps located at 1360 meters elevation, spanning three municipalities with slopes for both alpine and cross-country skiing. The terrain includes runs of varying difficulty levels and maintained trails suitable for different skill ranges.
The resort was founded in 1981 as a family winter destination, established by volunteers who created safe spaces for children to learn skiing. This development grew from local community engagement to make winter recreation accessible to families in the region.
The Ski Club du Barioz maintains a strong local presence through its annual general assembly and regular organization of children skiing courses.
The area opens on weekends during the winter season from December through March. Visitors should check in advance which lifts and slopes are available at the time of their visit.
A free rope tow serves beginners while experienced skiers can access a red slope, with access to two kilometers of maintained trails.
