Dabbe Falls, also known locally as Kepjoga, is a waterfall inside the Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka, India. It drops in a series of natural steps into a deep valley, with pools forming at each level before the water continues its descent.
The falls sit in the Sharavathi valley, a region shaped by the westward-flowing Sharavathi river, which is one of the few rivers in India that flows in that direction. Over time, the area became part of the Sharavathi Wildlife Sanctuary, giving it formal protection.
The trek to the falls starts from the village of Hosagadde, passing through forests, plantations, and paddy fields before a steep final descent with no formal path. Good footwear and enough water are essential, and visiting during the monsoon months of June through September gives the fullest experience of the waterfall.
The name of the falls comes from a nearby house called Dabbe Mane, where 'mane' means house in Kannada. This house still serves as a rest stop for trekkers before they take on the steepest section of the descent.
