Tunga Bridge

Tunga Bridge is a concrete arch bridge that spans the Tunga River in Thirthahalli with support pillars on each side. The structure carries both vehicle and foot traffic across the water between the two riverbanks.

The bridge was completed in 1943 under Sir M Visvesvaraya's supervision and inaugurated by Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar. It became a key infrastructure link for the region at that time.

The bridge carries daily foot and vehicle traffic, with locals using it regularly to cross between the two riverbanks. You will often see people pausing on its sides to watch the water below or gather in small groups.

The bridge is easily accessible for public passage and is used daily by vehicles and pedestrians. It is a good place to stop and observe the river landscape or take photos of the water and surroundings.

The bridge features two parallel arches at the top connected by beam structures that create a roof-like covering over the roadway. This double-arch design is unusual and not commonly found in other bridges of that era.
