Khorramabad

The city stretches across valleys of the Zagros Mountains at 1147 meters elevation, connecting Tehran with the Khuzestan region through mountain passages.

The settlement started as Khaidalou during the Elamite period, later transformed into Shapur-Khwast under Sassanid rule with the construction of a fortress.

The population includes different linguistic groups with Luri speakers forming 43 percent, while Laki and Persian speakers each represent 25 percent.

The Brick Minaret stands as a 30-meter cylindrical tower combining architectural elements from both Seljuq and Buyid periods with distinct geometric patterns.
