Brick Minaret, Ancient minaret in Khorramabad, Iran.

The Brick Minaret is a cylindrical tower in the southern part of Khorramabad that stands on a stone platform with a western entrance and internal staircase. The structure rises about 30 meters high and is constructed entirely of brick arranged in geometric patterns.

The tower was built during the Dailamite period in the 10th century and served both as an orientation point for trade caravans and as a defensive structure for the city. This dual purpose made it an important landmark during a time of active trade routes.

The minaret shows how Persian, Indian, and Central Asian building traditions came together in one structure, reflecting the connections between distant regions. You can see this blend in the brick patterns and shapes that caravans would have recognized from their journeys.

The minaret is located near Falak-ol-Aflak Castle in central Khorramabad and is relatively easy to reach. You can climb the internal stairs to visit the upper platform and enjoy views over the city.

Excavations around the structure have revealed remnants of a former caravanserai and mosque, showing that a whole complex once stood here. These findings suggest the minaret was the center of a much larger trading hub.
