Odle Group, Mountain range in South Tyrol, Italy.
The Odle Group is a mountain range in South Tyrol that stretches between Funes and Val Gardena valleys, defined by sheer limestone cliffs and sharp rocky peaks. Several summits exceed 3000 meters and create a dramatic skyline above alpine meadows.
The first recorded summit of La Furchëtta, the highest peak, took place in 1870 and marked the beginning of modern mountaineering in this region. Since then this mountain range has drawn climbers and hikers from around the world.
The name Odle comes from Ladin, the local mountain language, and refers to the needle-like peaks that define the landscape. Local people in the surrounding valleys have used this name for centuries.
The Adolf Munkel Trail crosses through the Puez-Odle nature park and connects several mountain huts while offering views of the main peaks. The best route depends on your experience, with easy walks through meadows and more challenging climbing routes higher up.
Since 1997, a major ski race has been held on Secëda, known as one of the world's longest slalom competitions. The event has made this area a destination for winter sports enthusiasts.
