Porta Nuova, Business district in Milan, Italy
Porta Nuova is a modern neighborhood in northern Milan featuring contemporary high-rises, shops, and apartments. The area spans several blocks and combines office space, retail, and green areas in a densely built zone.
The neighborhood gets its name from a Neoclassical gate built in 1810, designed by Giuseppe Zanoia as a northern entrance to the city. In the 21st century, the area was completely modernized into a business hub with tall buildings.
The Biblioteca degli Alberi park provides green spaces with plants and paths where regular events and gatherings take place. Visitors can rest here and observe local life amid the tall buildings.
The neighborhood is easily reached by train at Garibaldi station and by metro at Porta Garibaldi station. Subway and bus lines quickly connect the district to the center and other parts of the city.
The Unicredit Tower is Italy's tallest building at 231 meters high and has defined the neighborhood's skyline since its completion. This 35-story tower has become the district's most recognizable landmark.
