Zone 5 of Milan, Administrative municipality in Milan, Italy
Zone 5 is an administrative district in southeastern Milan comprising four neighborhoods: Acquabella, Calvairate, Forlanini, and Rogoredo. The area combines historic monuments, educational institutions, and cultural centers that shape the district's character and function.
The district took its current form in 1997 when Milan restructured from twenty zones into nine smaller administrative divisions. Official recognition as Municipality 5 came in 2016 following another reorganization.
Chiaravalle Abbey anchors the identity of its namesake district with its medieval structure and draws those interested in religious architecture to walk through its grounds. The monastery and surrounding area form a quiet corner within the urban fabric, where history still feels present.
The district connects easily to central Milan through several metro stations including Abbiategrasso and Lodi T.I.B.B., as well as Milano Porta Romana railway station. Visitors can explore different parts of the area conveniently using public transportation.
Bocconi University, a leading business school, operates its main campus in this district and contributes significantly to its academic standing. Alongside the university sits the Fondazione Prada, a contemporary art center that adds cultural depth.
