San Paolino, Florence, Baroque church in central Florence, Italy.
San Paolino is a baroque church in central Florence featuring a single nave with four side chapels and a prominent dome overhead. The interior shows ordered proportions with columns and arches that organize the worship space throughout.
The church was founded in 1094 and received its current name in 1208 to avoid confusion with another church of the same dedication. A complete redesign happened in 1667 when architect Giovan Battista Balatri restructured and reoriented the building.
Artworks from important Italian painters decorate the interior spaces with religious and devotional themes. The embellishments reflect the style and taste of the baroque period when the church was rebuilt.
The building sits near Ognissanti in the city center and is easy to reach on foot. Access is typically available during daytime hours, though visitors should check opening times before arriving.
The dome was constructed in 1693 and marks a feature of the later baroque enhancement to the building. This addition helped flood the interior with light and gave the church its distinctive outline today.
