The Museo Civico Archeologico contains multiple sections dedicated to prehistoric, Egyptian, Roman, early Christian, and Lombard archaeological discoveries from the region.
Established in 1561, the museum initially stored its collection in the loggia beneath Palazzo della Ragione before relocating to the Visconti Palace in 1960.
The museum exhibits bronze age tools, Egyptian sarcophagi, Roman epigraphs from the first century, and Lombard artifacts found in nearby burial grounds.
The museum charges 3 euros for admission, which includes entry to the Museum of Natural Sciences, and operates from Tuesday through Sunday with specific morning hours.
The collection expanded through contributions from Count Paolo Vimercati Sozzi and Professor Gaetano Mantovani, who documented findings in the Notizie Archeologiche Bergomensi journal.
