Provincial Pinacotheca of Salerno

The Provincial Pinacotheca is housed in Palazzo Pinto and displays paintings spanning from the 15th to 20th centuries across several rooms. The collection covers multiple artistic periods within this exhibition space.

The collection was formed between 1927 and 1938 and includes artworks from the 15th to 18th centuries recovered from the Salerno region. These pieces were gathered to preserve the area's artistic heritage.

The gallery displays works by regional artists such as Renaissance master Andrea Sabbatini and Baroque painter Francesco Solimena. These pieces reflect the artistic traditions that developed across the Salerno region over centuries.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and located in the historic center of Salerno, which is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should plan to arrive during morning hours when the galleries are less crowded.

The museum holds a collection of works by international artists who documented the Amalfi Coast and Cilento region during the Grand Tour. These paintings show how European travelers perceived and portrayed the landscapes of southern Italy.
