Spiaggia Punta Grande, Sand beach in Realmonte, Italy
Spiaggia Punta Grande is a sand beach on the southern coast of Sicily with fine golden sand and clear Mediterranean waters. The shoreline stretches for about 500 meters and is backed by tall limestone cliffs that frame the cove.
The beach was developed into a popular destination during the 1960s when access routes and basic visitor facilities were created. Gradual improvements to infrastructure over the following decades made it an established attraction.
The surrounding region maintains traditional fishing practices, with local fishermen regularly launching their boats from designated areas of the beach each morning.
The beach is easily accessible and equipped with sunbeds and umbrellas during summer months. The best time to visit is from May through September, when all facilities are open and water temperatures are pleasant.
Near the beach are limestone formations with small caves and natural pools that form from tidal movements. These hollows provide natural shade and create sheltered swimming areas.
