Itayado Station, Underground metro and railway station in Suma-ku, Kobe, Japan
Itayado Station is an underground station in Kobe served by two separate railway operators sharing one facility. The Sanyo Electric Railway uses two side platforms while the Kobe Municipal Subway uses one island platform.
The station first opened in 1910 as a surface stop and was later rebuilt underground after the 1995 Kobe earthquake. The move below ground was part of the city's recovery from that disaster.
The station serves as a central connection point in Kobe's public transportation network, linking residents of Suma district with downtown areas.
The station is in the Suma district and can be reached by staircase or elevator from street level. Sanyo Electric Railway and the municipal subway use separate areas inside, so checking the signs before heading to a platform helps.
The station carries two different line codes at once: SY02 for the Sanyo Electric Railway and S10 for the Kobe Municipal Subway. This double coding reflects the fact that two entirely separate operators share the same building.
